Moffitt Cancer Center

A cancer hospital in Tampa, FL is beyond a doubt the placed to be treated if you live in this great state and have been diagnosed. The Moffitt Cancer Center treats thousands of people every week. I am amazed at how well the wheels turn on a daily basis there. Before you ever arrive you are given specific directions via mail, email, and a phone call. They even text you if they don't hear from you to confirm your appointment by the day before.

As you drive onto the campus you are instructed to park in the Red, Blue or Gold valet parking areas. Car attendants are buzzing all over the place working at a fast pace handling 10-20 cars at once. As you step foot into the center, the blood draw area is usually your first stop and is within 20 feet of the main door. You quickly receive an electronic buzzer and are asked to sit in the waiting area. They have so many nurses drawing blood you will seldom have to wait more than 10 minutes before your buzzer goes off. The blood results are sent to your doctor within 30 minutes so by the time you walk down the hall for an appointment, your test results are waiting for you!

If for any reason you need to see a doctor in another building, they immediately radio for a golf cart and drive you wherever you need to go. It appears that there is constant communication going on among the staff at all times. The systems they have in place put you at ease and the routine brings comfort allowing you to focus on what's really important during your visit...and that is your health and healing. Moffitt Cancer Center is a big part of why...my cup is half full.

Kitchen Whiz

It's the little things in life that keep me in a "positive" mode. The love of my life, my husband of 37 years, is such a whiz in the kitchen. I don't mean a whiz in the "cooking department".....although he thinks he is competition for the Iron Chef! I mean he's a whiz at working in the kitchen. He's always loading and unloading the dishwasher. He never lets dishes pile up in the sink or on the counter.

He's #1 at making sure the garbage gets emptied in a timely manner and he's devoted to keeping the frig free of any item that has lived there longer than 2 weeks!!! Many arguments have emerged from the depths of what I have discovered in the garbage can such as "my" yogurt that has expired by one day!! He means well and when I weigh it all out...my whiz in the kitchen is one of the reasons my cup is half full.

Sweat Therapy

September 17, 2016

A local fitness center in Tallahassee, Sweat Therapy, is an amazing place to exercise. Small classes and highly skilled professional trainers have kept me going to class 2-3 times per week for over a year now. Owners Kim and Brian are frequently in the center monitoring or leading classes always making sure we are doing exercises the proper way. Lori, the Forever Fit (over 50) trainer, has never wavered in her enthusiasm and passion for teaching our class. Every morning from 9am-10am Mon.-Th. she has a new "lesson plan" tailored to our needs. She listens to our comments and sometimes I think she can feel our aches and pains evidenced by how she changes and adapts exercises on the fly when she hears collective moans. Exercise is a big part of why....my cup is half full.

Cup Half Full

The way I see it.....

You have two choices as you begin each day; living with your cup half full or half empty. It's a choice we all make whether consciously or unconsciously and it starts with the first thoughts we have as we awaken.
